The reason it's being labelled as such is because it's substantially deviated from the original material, specifically to fill Amazon's political agenda.

That's why it's being labelled as such. I haven't labelled it "woke" myself because I haven't personally read the books however, everything I've read online or spoken to people who have read the original material, elves are specifically white. Nothing was written to stop black elves from existing, just elves as a race simply weren't black and exclusively white.

Amazon has gone to the effort of changing a famous, fictional race that exist in a completely fictional world just to shoe-horn a black guy in.

They could have at least written a black race in properly, spent some time in the first season and episodes on how this particular clan of Elves came back across the sea as they were wrongly outcasted and are now looking for a way back across the sea.

Some people would have been annoyed that they edited the original material but at least some effort was put into the writing to make it mean something in the story and a reason to exist and stray from the original.

But nope, absolutely no effort was put in, just an Amazon quota to add invincible women and black people without any care or thought to the original material and then its been all backed by a terrible story and bad acting and I use the term "bad acting" loosely, it's not the actors fault the writing is so bad.
