  1. I have a new laptop that had norton security detect a trojan horse ibm0001.exe. it said it was unrepairable. I quarantined it. After that upon startup I got a message that windows could not find the file. I put it back out of quarantine the message went away. I do not have any signs of spy sheriff anywhere and no appreciable problems running any apps. Please advise. Could it get to my other computers on the network? How could I have got it? How don't I get it again? i've been using email for years w/ no virus protection and never had problems before, Why now? Could I use the recover discs & start all over or will this trojan still be there? Thanks

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

ibm0001.exe is deffinitely a baddie and is related to spysheriff.

First, go HERE and follow the instructions.

Then, go HERE and follow the instructions in the order they are given.

Post a fresh HJT log, only after doing the above.
