No, the only disc that came with the laptop was the system recovery disk. My desktop came with several discs (OS, applications, and a drivers disk).

    And I up the creek?

believe it or not, had (have) trouble finding it (or which one it is). It's either
    1MA20000949 or
    BMCW538061L or
T3659K1006815 (I think this is it as the link you sent said something about either 10 or 13 digits.

    Yep that's it
    Now download all the drivers
    http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/mydl.asp?tab=MY&os=Windows XP
and copy the packages over to your Laptop

    That'll keep you busy !

I downloaded the packet it gave me and put on my desktop. It says setup needs .net framework. I'll do a google search for this.

I assume they mean version 2.0?

    O.k., I will.

2.0 just finished now. I'll get the rest now.

Once these are installed, should I just be loading the driver for the internet or all of the drivers (I don't know if the group Gateway gave me might have updates to my old drivers?)

    1.1 wouldn't install (perhaps b/c I had already installed 2.0).

3.0 wouldn't install because it kept trying (5 times) to "re-establishing connection with the server."

As I said, 2.0 installed. After that, the Gateway driver pack did open and it said it installed. I'm not sure it installed drivers. It may have only install something called the Gateway assistant?

    I'm on!

I downloaded the individual drivers and after the installs I was able to see available networks and connect and enter my Wep ID.

I wonder why they didn't intall with the disc. Oh well. Thanks so much. Really, I greatly appreciate the amount of time you spent addressing my numerous issues.

At some point, I may post a question about my desktop hard drive C: H: drive swap. But I'm worn out and I know you I certainly took up way to much time. Thanks again!

There has been some concern put to me on 75 Posts but I believe everyone is valid

Basically you have been walked through step by step.
    This takes a long time.

I think though this thread should close now, any further issues, just create another one.

    That was fun :)
