IDE DVD Drive showing up as SCSI

  1. just built my new system and my IDE drive is showing as SCSI in Windows Device Manager. It seems to be working okay but it is still rather alarming. My motherboard is a brand new Asus P5K.

    any input would be much appreciative!

    That's OK
    I can't remember all the ins and outs (and links) but that's Normal for some boards

    really? i wonder why that is. it is plugged into the IDE connector on my motherboard, so i'd think that it would be recognized as such. anyway, i hope it's not an issue.

    Its not an issue. I've seen it happen with Promise ATA100 and 133 controllers.
