Ok, I was wondering if I bought Vista Ultimate, does anyone know for a fact if I could later, after getting a newer computer, install it on the new computer without rebuying it?

Yes you can. All you have to do, is when the Activation comes up, call them on the phone, give them your installation ID, and tell them your reformatted your computer.

When you buy Windows XP Professional, with the coupon for an upgrade to VISTA, the copies we have are required to be installed on the same computer on which the Windows XP Pro that came with the original order.

In other words, you do not end up with two Windows installs for the price of one.

As long as you don't buy the OEM version but the retail version, you can, legally. Technically the OEM version must stay with the first PC it is installed in.
