    Every time I open my Download folder an error message appears:

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime error!

    Program: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe

    This application
    has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
    Please contact the application's support team for more information.

    This started a couple of days ago. When I click OK the folder closes.

    I would greatly appreciate any help with this.

    This is not usually a malware issue. The most common cause of this error is found in addons

    Please open IE> Manage Addons> Disable all addons> put them back one at a time until you find the one causing the error. Uninstall it.

    If this doesn't resolve the issue, please re-post in the Windows OS forum-or-
    If you would like us to check the system for malware, please follow the steps in the Preliminary Virus and Malware Removal thread HERE.
