once every so often warcraft 3 quits on me with the following error message: this application has encountered a critical error: FATAL ERROR! war3.exe exeption: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 001B:6F0ECF80 The instruction at '001B:6F0ECF80' referenced memory at '0x0000001C'. The memory could not be 'read'. so my question is: this a software or a hardware problem? i have sygate firewall 5 and norton antivirus 2002 running in background 2 sticks of geil ram 256MB each also screen shot
It could be either, although I just recently saw a very simliar problem caused by bad memory. You should try testing your memory with www.memtest86.org
Geil is pretty high class ram though. Shouldnt be that...however it is a possibility. Could have been just a bad chip. Might want to take a look at your memory slots, and memory itself. make sure there is no dust or dirt etc in the slot. Keeping a clean computer can solve alot of future problems.
i dont think its your RAM, cuz every-so-often I get that error too. Its only on certain maps tho. Like if im Blade Master in Footmenwars, and I do mirror image a certain # of times, on the same # everytime I get that error ..::edit::.. whats with the blade link thingy? I never did any code for it
Upgrade your video and sound drivers as well as any and all driver updates and patches for your system. Including Direct X. I used to have this problem too and I can tell you it's lack of updated drivers or RAM problems. I wouldn't consider GEIL that high class its the least expensive and not that reliable (at least for me). I used to own a Blizzard fan site that recieved 1000+ unique a day and I was presented with possibly every problem to encounter. I can help you out more after updating does not help.
