Install Win XP SP3 to USB HDD

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and find it a nice place. I am not a techie but have more than a passing interest in computers. To cut a long story short I tried installing Win xp sp3 on my usb hdd following these instructions /vb/topic116114 on this very forum. (Sorry cant post link)
The installation went fine till it said that windows would restart within 15 secs and then came the windows logo followed by the BSOD with the message
STOP: 0x0000007B .
Am stuck and don't know how to proceed.
System specs
Lenovo G 550 Core 2 duo 3GB DDR3 RAM
HDD Seagate laptop HDD 320GB mounted onto a transcend hdd case
Currently there is no internal HDD in the laptop
All suggestions are welcome

Sounds to me something went kind of screwy in the time between Windows telling it will re-boot in 15 seconds, to the time it actually tried to come back on-line! I have no real clue as to what went wrong, but I did some snooping around and found several sites that deal with discribing what that "STOP: 0x0000007B" message means, some sites even go about explaining how one might be able to work around this error! The sites are as follows.....

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316401

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/stop0x0000007b.htm

http://pcsupport.about.com/b/2009/01/24/stop-0x0000007b-blue-screen-errors.htm

Hope at least a little bit of this helps, maybe some TechSpot computer or Windows using guru's can chime in!

Good luck.............
