Hi,

Just wondering when my host (Windows XP have antivirus installed),

my other O/S inisde virtual PC does it requires anti-virus installations? The virtual PC is also accessing intenet. (Since the virtual PC O/S traffic is passing through the host LAN adaptor and out to internet right? )

I couldn't find any topics about the antivirus installation requirement in the Microsoft Virtual PC hence decide to post it here.

Many thanks
Tan

Yes you need an antivirus inside the virtual PC. AV software works on files and the filesystem of your virtual machine is not visible to the host OS.

Hi Nodsu,

Thanks for the reply.

I agree about the virtual PC file processing is within the virtual PC and is not visible to the host OS.

What my point was when the Virtual PC accessing internet the traffic is passing through the host LAN right and would the host AV scan the file been access through?

Many thanks
Tan
