    What me? :D

And the problem with the suggested prize of a Athlon 64 chip is that it then forces the user to get a new motherboard since they can't just plug it in an go.
I think sticking to a Peripheral would be a better choice for a prize.

How about some Klipsch or something. Maybe even a game or two with a video card .

Video Card/Sound Card/Dvd Drive whatever doesn't require another update sounds great to me.

Games also sound as good :)

that sounds good to me, but what about the non-gamers that post at TS? I think a processor/mobo combo would be a good idea.

I meant the game as some sort of runner up prize....

Not everybody is gonna be into any one thing here so we are always going to be faced with that situation STK. There are people on this forum not comfortable building a PC yet - what about them? They wouldn't like a CPU + Mobo combo except maybe to sell it. I think a game would make an excellent runner up prize since, from what I can tell, most of us play PC games here.

What if the person who wins the game doesn't have a decent enough rig to play it ? ;)

Well hell, lets just give them a new A64 rig with Doom3, then we'll know they can play it :)

Unless we had a grand prize, of a mobo and cpu (but you'd also need new ram)

A hard drive mp3 player would be cool. I have been thinking about getting one. It's a peripheral so all you need would be a computer and some mp3s. Where those mp3s come from is none of my business.

An advanced copy of Doom III and Half-Life 2. Hmmm...

Doom III??? Are you on crack that could be the last place prize. A $50 game as a prize as to a kickass X800. It doesn't take alot to say which you would want. I say X800 as one prize. Who wouldn't want one? An X800 would require no upgrading of anything so its a win, win situation. Come'on.... come'on now.

I did say as the runner up prize, yes. No one is suggesting that a copy of DOOM III or HL2 is the main prize!

That was basically my suggestions. Mobo, graphic card, memory, then runner up games.

I agree....agissi's prize post looks pretty good.

I believe I read earlier on gift certs from Newegg as well. I think those would be well-received.

Then Masque, we could do something like:

    Grand Prize: A64 & Mobo / $300 Newegg GC
    First Prize: X800 / $200 Newegg GC
    Second Prize: 512MB Corsair PC4000 / $100 Newegg GC
    Third Prize: Doom3/*game* / $50 Newegg GC

If we were to make the grand prize newegg GC worth what a A64 and mobo is, it'd have to be like $500, then the first prize would be like $400, and that be really expensive, maybe not possible?
