    'lo all

...am planning to upgrade the BIOS of my K7T266 Pro motherboard to v1.9, which according to the MSI website supports:

    Athlon XP 1500+ ~ 2000+
    600Mhz ~ 1.4GhZ

The Athlon XP 2000+ looks appealing however, as it runs at 1.67GHz, I am a little confused as to whether or not this processor will be compatible with the K7T266 Pro mobo.

In addition, if the above is all good, and I do go ahead with the upgrade, will I require a larger fan or heatsink or similar. I currently am running an 800Mhz Duron processor.

    All assistance is most appreciated.

This is OK for your mobo, but don't try to install anything faster.
If you buy the AMD Athlon XP2000+ in the boxed version, it automatically comes with an appropriate heatsink/cooler.
Alternatively, buy a bare CPU and get a very quiet cooler in the shape of the Zalman Flower CNPS6000-Cu, Noiseless, 92mm fan with speed-adjuster
