Yes to all who thought the partition was corrupted. I did a wipe of the hard drive before installing windows pro again. Actually this is the proper way to do an install anyway so you can be sure of a clean install but it fixed the problem so the malware was buried deep and I suspect it has been there a long time. I am having trouble with the HP website for drivers to get my wireless connection back as well as other issues. I am sure you all know that laptops are especially harder to get the drivers back in order than a desktop. I should have backed up the drivers but maybe it's good I kept nothing of the old software. I don't get along with HP. I only got the HP laptop because it was the one that came with my books, etc. for my online classes. If I had been able to choose I would have chosen another brand like Dell or Acer. Sorry for my mood swings, I suffer from anxiety disorder and I know that is not an excuse but I thought I owed all of you an explanation especially with all the great help I have been getting. THANKS
Go into the control panel. Once in the control panel look under Device Manager. Once this window opens . Scroll down to Network Adapters and click on that . It should be listed in there. Or you can try using SlimDrivers. Here https://www.slimwareutilities.com/slimdrivers.php Its free and may find the drivers you are looking for.
