In your listing, the Multimedia device is your Sound Device.
This may be your driver... http://www.bioticaindia.com/sigmatel-stac9721-23.html

What I would like for you to do is this...
First
Go to Start -> My Computer and RIght Click.
Click on Properties.
Click on Device Manager.
Scan down through the list...
Do you see any red x, or yellow circles (or yellow triangles) with Exclamation Marks?
(it would probably be in the section called "Sound, Video, and Game:.

If there are no issues here....

Second... Double Check your speakers...
Are they attached to your sound card (and plugged into the correct jack)?
Are they plugged in to their power source (or do they have fresh batteries)?
Are they turned on?

Third,
If you do not have a speaker icon in your system tray,
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Sound and Audio Devices - Double Click on this icon...
On the Volume Tab... Make sure that your sound is not muted (a check box)- and make sure the slider is not set too low.
Check the Speak Volume Button for the same issues.
Back at the Device Volume section, Click the Advanced button, This will bring up a control panel that looks like a mixer board.
Make sure that your sliders are not set to zero, and not checked "to Mute".

If you DO have the speaker icon in the system tray, it will bring up the Mixer Board mentioned above.

Fourth; make sure that your external volume control, (if you have one) is not set too low.

Lastly, When you say you don't have a cd, are you referring to a "driver disk"?

Are any of these helpful?

Please read the entire post before doing anything...

  • You might try Googling... "SiS SiS7012 Audio Driver" , or even... "sigmatel-stac9721-23-driver"

But first
  • you might do the other things I suggested in the first post... Or if you have done them,
  • then tell us what the results were...

AND also, before trying the links and searches...
You might try this... (it will reveal if you have any other problem devices)...

  • First make sure all your devices are connected and powered on
  • Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32.
  • Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
  • Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
  • Write down all Devices, the PNP Device IDs, and the Error Codes, and
  • Add that information to your next post.

If you are able to resolve the issue, please let us know the details.
