Most Icons Gone??

  1. Hey guys im new to the fourm...I just started up my pc today and most of my icons were gone?? ill give you guys some shots...Sorry about the bad picks..i have a 6 bit vid card :p no..i just had to compress the pics so i could host them...so now they look junky but...

    This is "icons gone bad" thread number 3 for me.

    Note, though, do the programs still work? And open? Just that the icon is different? I suppose it stays that way even after you restart?

    Yes all my programs still work...and i restsrted it and all i got were my Quick Task all fixed and most all of my deskop items are good exept 2 and all my music is working..but i still have the error in my Programs in my Start

    You could possibly try refreshing your icon cache.

    Go into C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\
    And delete the "IconCache.db" file. I believe it is hidden, may also be a system file. So make sure you can view hidden and system files through Tools-Folder Options.

    XP will automatically recreate this file and rebuild your icons. That may do it. not sure. And you may have to restart.

    I love you :bounce: yea as soon as i deleted the .db alll my icons cam back :)
