Yesterday on MSN someone sent my brother a virus link asking if it was him in a picture, followed by a URL containing his email address and and something about facebook. When he clicked on it, an executable file downloaded to his computer that had a series of numbers in the name, followed by facebook.exe.jpg or something along those lines. It seems that everytime he logs into MSN, the link is spammed out to any of his contacts who are online.
Also, blank messenger windows keep popping up, and eventually it says MSN is not responding.
There don't seem to be any other symptoms that we've noticed so far.
He's running Windows Vista 32 bit, and Windows Live Suite Beta for MSN and such.
We've scanned fir viruses with Trend Micro Internet Security Pro, and the only things that came up were a few cookies, which were automatically deleted.
We will run the preliminary 8-step removal thing soon, once he's finished what he's doing and post the relevant logs.
Any help would be much appreciated, because I am at a loss as to what to do.
