I went to turn the computer on to do as you asked, and I got a windows failed to start. It said that the registry is either corrupt or missing.

This computer did not come with it's windows cds when I ordered it from Ibuypower. I have been told that there is a Windows Repair CD that I can burn onto a CD and use. I really hope to get this comp back with it's files intact as much as possible.

Windows failed to start.
File:\windows\system32\config\system

Info:Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupted.

I bout my computer back in January of this year(2009) from ibuypower.com and have had nothing but trouble with it since I've had it and thier support has been less then helpful. I also don't have the window's disk as they don't send them with thier computers.

Recently the computer i bout from them stopping booting up. It will go through the initial interl screen, then to the windows error recovery screen(where I can choose safe mode, ect) but none of the selections make a difference. After choosing a boot type it go to a "Boot Manager" screen that says "

Windows faild to start. A recent Hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

My computer does not seem to have Startup Repair preinstalled, and I bought this computer some time ago so it is no longer under warranty. If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate them.

Sorry that didn't come out as a hyperlink.

If you read down THESE Instructions:>>>>
6. On the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair
But if this fails then try Steps 1 to 5 and now select “System Restore” on the 6 Step instead of Startup Repair. Select a Restore point to the date before you had this problem and follow the steps.

Ok, good news. We did in fact have the Vista DVD in storage. We wanted to check to make sure. Took us a couple hours to dig it up, but now we are back to our regularly scheduled program. Thank you for your help with that little side mission.

The computer is still running slowly, Firefox is not working, and all problems it had before are still active. So, should I do as you asked in post #25 before this all happened?

Yes. please go ahead with directions in my Reply #25> It doesn't sound like anything has changed.
