hlenita Please provide a bit more infomation about your PC. If you don't know at least what model your sound card or motherboard is, download Everest Home or SIW to find out that info.

Then use google or post the info here to find your drivers.

    krisofa Try this site: http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/audio/ad1888/WDM_3665.zip

Download the file and extract it into a folder that you can access it easy. Then go to that folder and look for Setup.exe or Install.exe or similar and install etc.

    Same Problem

    Running Win XP Professional
    Service Pack 2
    Intel Pentium 4, 2666 Mhz (20x133)
Motherboard: Asus P4S533-MX (3 PCI, 1 AGP, 2 SDR DIMM, 2 DDR DIMM, Audio, Video)
    Motherboard Chipset: SiS 651
Audio Adapter: SiS 7012 Audio Device
    Speaker Type: Labtec LCS 1060.

Issue: Ran fine in Win2k. Just reformatted, and system can't identify my speakers or give me any options for sound beyond system beeps. Tried hunting for speaker drivers, but Labtec site is absolutely useless there. Attempting to run the downloaded SiS 7012 Audio Device drivers just gave me glaring, nonsensical error messages.
Also, any tips on how to actually go into the BIOS & disable onboard speaker (I'm wondering if it's overriding my existing speakers) would be terrific.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi there and welcome to Techspot

    Just to explain some things...
Your speakers are given sound from your soundcard, hence why you won't find any drivers for your speakers, unless they are using a USB connection.

You do not need to disable your onboard speakers. They will save your life when your PC one day won't boot up or you don't get any visuals onscreen. Very important for troubleshooting at a hardware level. They do not play any other role than to beep at power on and at POST to tell you if the PC is ok or not. Windows rarely utilise this speaker.

Do you have a dedicated audio card from SiS? I think that you don't, and hence why you're getting the error when you try to install the drivers..

    Try this one:
    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
Look for your motherboard [motherboard>Socket 478>P4s533-MX] and download the SoundMax drivers for your version of windows from there.

    Idk

    I have that already, thats how I got the MB info. Am I looking in the wrong place or is my MB just FuBar? When I go to the Motherboard info its says Unknown. I have an Emachine maybe that will help? If there is somewhere I should/could look for the MB info on Everest plz let me know. ; ;

    Go to this website: http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops

enter in your model no, series/etc for your PC. It should bring you to the relevant download page. If you don't know the model no or info, there should be a sticker or similar somewhere on the case (or if you kept the book(s))

Emachine pcs are by far the most ridiculous prebuilt machines ever to be in production (no offense k?). They use mostly cheap proprietary stuff..

    Hello ,

I am experiencing problems with SoundMax. I have a Dell 4600i, and I've read this thread as I came upon it by googling. I attempted a few of the methods listed here as well, but I end up with the same message over and over from SoundMax "Driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again."

Here's a picture of the drivers I have under my Dell drivers folder.

    Thank you.

i assume you're following the instructions from the Dell website to the letter?

If you have, and still giving you problems do the following.
    - Enter Add/Remove Programs (under Control Panel) and look for Soundmax and other audio related programs (except music players etc of course) and uninstall them.
    - Enter Device Manager and expand the branch "Sound, video and game controllers" and uninstall anything related to your sound card drivers if any.
    - Reboot and when the wizard comes up to install the driver, cancel it and run the Dell one instead. If installing it under normal bootup doesn't work, use Safe mode.

    Hi everyone,
I also am getting the no driver found message that then tells me to reboot. I have dl'ed the latest soundmax update/drivers from my manufacturers site (ASUS) and there are no sound drivers listed in my program list. When I run the new hardware wizard it finds nothing and my system doesnt appear to see any sound hardware. I have also tried resetting cmos..my audio is enabled in bios..I'm at a loss here

TYIA for any help you can provide
    mobo is asus p4pe-x

see post above for instructions on how to clean your drivers first. Otherwise get a proper sound card..
  19. evar Newcomer, in training

Already tried that...seems like the consensus is failed audio on my mobo..

I appreciate the response though :)
