    alright, so I ended up getting the i7 950 at frys since they had it on sale for only $259.

    Does this mean I have to use 3 memory sticks or will it be able to support 2 sticks @ 4gb?

    2 sticks will work, but I don't know if the mobo supports both dual and triple-channel memory.

    you can use as many or few as you like. you need to use 2 to activate the dual channel, 3 to activate the triple channel (if you had that) is all.
