Napster co-founder: war on music piracy is a failure

Its time the music industry realized that they can't sustain the industry the way they are trying to now. They have to change their approach or face dire consequences.

they would have made a lot mode money if the never invented DRM. and when it comes to piracy i think it's stupid to go after the ones that are downloading instead of going after the heavy uploaders. what i noticed is that many people (important ones) stopped flaming the P2P community. (maybe anonymous really did scare them a bit)

Napster was the best thing i have ever seen in my life. I used to use napster download service when i was school and used to get amazed not for its interface or usability but the speed at which i used to download my fav songs. Amazing it could easily surpass even my bandwidth speed which i never imagined any server or application doing it. Another major aspect of napster was the availability of songs. You name it and you get it. Even weirdest of music could be found there with top most speed discussed earlier.

Spotify is available to only a handful of western European countries; its not even available in US. But I've managed to make an account on it through various proxies and its good even though you don't find all your favourite bands there. Its a start. :)
