Need advice: 550m vs 540m

Hey all,

I'm thinking of buying a new laptop to conduct work and do some gaming in my spare time. Right now I am between choosing one of the below:

lenovo Y470
or
Asus N53SV


Both almost identical with the exception of video cards. Hence, my question:
If all are the same, which would be better: 1GB GT550m OR 2GB GT540m?

The Lenovo is likely slightly more reliable.

I doubt you will be able to detect the difference between the 1 GB GT550m vs 2GB GT540m... if it comes down to cost issues.

1366x768 resolution screen. I'd go for the 1GB GT550M.

From the benchmarks it looks to be around 10% better performance on average. And 2GB of video memory isn't going to be that necessary at that resolution.

Not even a choice, the 550m is superior in every way. The 2GBs of ram on the 540m is just a checklist feature, good luck even taxing 1GB with the low performance of the card.

What is your budget? What type of games will you be wanting to play. I ask this for more than just your video card.
