Need For Speed Shift crashes upon launch

Hi Guys,

I just installed NFS Shift on this comp, and I get a crash - I cannot figure out why - I ensured that catalyst was running all settings for AA and the other tabs on the lowest possible value:

AMD Ph II x2 BE 3.2 GHz
4 GB DDR3
ATI HD4290 (256MB dedicated - 1.6GB shared VRAM)
ATI catalyst drivers 10.6
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Disabled Visual Themes and Desktop Composition, and running as Admin.

The RC version of W7 isn't supported by ATI website drivers. That could be the problem.

I don't have that version installed.

I installed W7 x64 Ultimate build 7600 RTM. I've never encountered this issue with any other game, even with an older iteration of NFS pro-street.

That's why I doubt it is the windows version, but could it be the ATI drivers?

I don't know though, because I installed the latest catalyst drivers after the crash and restarted. I ran the game after restart and still got the same message.

PS: My apologies for the late reply, I'm currently outside the country and I'm pretty busy with wedding preparations ^_^;;
