  1. Hello,

I want to upgrade my cpu, but I am not sure which one I should go with or which one will work. I want to spend about 140 to 180 dollars on it. below are my comp specs.

    Hp pavilion a1650e CTO

    current cpu: AMD athlon 64 x2 4600+
    Codename Windsor
    Brand ID: 4
    Package: socket AM2 (940)\
    Technology 90nm - Core VID: 1.100v
    family: F Model B: stepping: 2 Revision BH-FH2

    Main board: Asustek Computer Inc.
    Model: NODUS3
Chipset: Nvidia Geforce 6150 Rev. A2
    Southbridge: Nvidia nforce4 410/430 MCP
    LPCIO: SMSC

    Graphic Interface
    PCI- Express

    Memory
    Type 2 DDR2
Size 2048 Mbytes will be upgrading to 4gbs
    Channel # Dual
    Timings
    DRam Freq. 200.4 Mhz
    FSB: DRam CPU/5

    PSU: Hippro
    Model: D3057F3R
    DC output +5v = 25a +12v=19a
    +3.3v=18a -12v+0.8a
    Max Power output 300w

If I have to upgrade my PSU thats fine. I am just worried about getting the best cpu for the the amount stated above. Thanks in advance.

    Got the answer I needed.

Well I found out that this motherboard only supports the Athlon 64 x2 5400 2.8 ghz as the highest speed. So no reply is needed.
