  1. Hi:

My name is Sam and I'm a newbee. I accidentally downloaded an adware.trustinbar virus. Norton antivirus didn't give me helpful instructions
to remove. Can this be deleted by Hijackthis? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've attached my logfile.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I believe I've followed the instructions pretty
closely and it may have deleted some of my cookies and some odd spyware, I think the adware.trustinbar is still on there.

Here is my Hijack txt logfile. If you can suggest which items to "fix" I would
    greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks again,

Boot into safe mode. See how HERE.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Run HJT with no other programmes open. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - D:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - D:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe (file missing)

Fix all 016-DPF entries no matter what they are.

Click on the fix checked button.

    Close HJT.

Reboot into normal mode and turn system restore back on.

    Regards Howard :)
