Need to upgrade to SATA Not sure if it is sata or sata II which my mobo supports

My Box config

AMD athlon 64bit 2800+

ASUS K8-VX Mother board

want to upgrade to 500 gigs or if possible to 1tb Sata HDD

Problem is
1) Mother board is old done almost 3 years
2) I don't know what version of SATA will be supported


Please advise

I don't know why, but everytime I go to asus, they're hving site maintenance
Anyway see if you can click on Specifications there

Yes i checked this its under maintenance.

And i think If i can remember . the Manual said Sata and not sata II

Wanted to know if i can go ahead and try sata II ?
