New build, don't know where to start

    Ok so I'm new to the area of building a pc and don't really know where to start. I have the motherboard and cpu figures out I just don't know where to go from there.

    • What is your Budget?
    • What purpose will this new PC serve?
    • What components do you already have?
    • Where do you live?
    • Are you open to using online merchants? IE newegg, amazon.

    2000 is the limit but I won't mind going over if it means making it better but not by much.
    The main purpose is to be playing games not really high end games but some.
    I have some parts but nothing that will do me any good.

    Well with $2,000 USD you can easily make a pretty nice rig.

    What CPU & MOBO did you have in mind?

    I think it's advisable to instead use a 2500k build or the ivy bridge counterpart if you can get your hands on it. Aside from that, it sounds like you can get away with just a 7870, but that depends on what games, what resolution, and what framerate you want.
