    Hi CybeRock

I can try to customize the driver again (if i can still find all the right pieces again, i hope!)

Could you first confirm the exact make/model of your computer then also
    • Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
    • Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
    • If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post

OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0832&SUBSYS_30CF103C&REV_05\4&37A8D8D1&0&2840 This device cannot start.

    Hi CybeRock

I created a customized version of the audio driver file for your XP downgrade and saved it on esnips here: HP dv6809wm Audio XP.zip See if it works (fingers crossed.... and drum roll please!)

(you still have a firewire driver missing, btw, but if you care we can see if can fix after audio)

It worked! Dude you are the man! Where everything else failed, you have prevailed :). I am forever grateful. I know about the other issue, i tried everything with that also but nothing worked. What do you recommend?

    Hi CybeRocK

Ooops! Just realized i forgot to get back to you!

As for the firewire port on that computer, I'm not so sure there;s a good solution for firewire. There's some indication that an older BIOS version can help but IMO i'd be concerned about rolling back the BIOS version and that, itself, causing other problems.

So i think is best to live without firewire if you can
