JSR: You are lowering the tone here at TechSpot, by putting up 'rude' symbols. I noticed that since you started doing this, others have followed, and its not good as far as any of us are concerned to start sliding into this type of behaviour, even if just for fun. Once this kind of behaviour starts, things usually start going downhill, and I for one visit TechSpot because it is well mannered and the quality of posts is generally very high. I am certain that everyone here would appreciate if you could at least try and understand this, and also if possible modify your writing style, which is tedious to read, so you would be doing all of us here a favour, for which we would be grateful. I can understand that your style is your personal preference, but it doesn't help the rest of us here who have to decipher what you are saying. Thanks.

I think that, from what I have heard, this is the way that most people feel. Sorry JSR, but please will you try to post a little more clearly and maturely. You often don't make sense. I am sure you could contribute well to the forums, if you just thought a little about your conduct. Thanks.

I don't know how to say it more politely than that.

    very politely said

i think my rude approach comes from lording over several hundred hispanics and a sports background. I think i will only address alex in this manner, due to his extreme annoyance of me, and poor spelling. lol. i honestly believe we should not all be lemmings in life and need a fresh perspective. the rude symbols are on your site, i assumed ,were for fun. this is what i look for in life, in addition to trying to help, and be helped, on occaision. i assumed there would be few, of whom, my personality would click. my assumption was incorrect. there are more people my presence adversly affects. i will take my bull in a china closet approach elsewhere. it's been real. no offense taken. just know when i've worn out my welcome. thanks.

JSR: You are always welcome, and much of the time you have made useful and much appreciated contributions. No one wants you to leave the site, but we would like it if you could just modify your behaviour a little. Even if you are in disagreement with certain individuals, you should still remain polite and courteous to them, and others, and you'll find that relationships will improve. We all have our ups and downs, agreements and disagreements, so everything is normal as far as I can see. Just realise that sometimes it is better to bite the bullet and maintain your composure at all times. You'll feel much better for it, and others will respect you more.

Even I'm getting annoyed, I'm supposed to be visiting the boards for fun and smart/friendly conversation... In more simple terms, moderators you have my blessing if you want to delete such useless posts (see above).

Let's not turn this into uncleel's land ;), but there are definitely a few posts out there that are annoying enough to deserve deletion, sorry JSR, everyone is welcomed here but you should respect other people and behave if you want to be considered part of the community.

JSR> A very nice an easily read post!
If you keep them all like that, I can't see anyone having a problem with it :)

    Re: very politely said

Good God, that was so different from your usual posts it was like a breath of fresh air! Please keep posting like this. If you do, I am sure we will all get on. I get no joy from confrontation - like SNGX says, arguing on the internet is like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you are still retarded.

Keep up the good work please.

Well it looks like all you dudes that wanted them gone got you way, I still strongly disagree with the reasoning behind getting rid of them. But I don't run this site I just participate so I can't complain too much.

Let's try it and see. If its not right then I will be the first to take the idea back....

Have you ever thought that many people know military ranks (or at least some of them)?

Just remember TS Special Forces & Elite are the Generals of the Army :giddy:
  18. RustyZip TechSpot Paladin Posts: 415

Thats a good point. I havn't (and probably half the other folk) got a clue about military ranks. Is there another way we can do it?? Like using stars or something?? As in using 5 stars for Techspot Staff & elite and 1 star for a newbie...
  19. MrGaribaldi TechSpot Ambassador Posts: 2,802

I must say I like that we're using military ranks...

It's not to hard to find info about it, and I find it a bit "cooler" than having just stars...

And I can't think of anything else that'd suit this site better... We can't/shouldn't use a scale from newbie to guru, as postcount doesn't have anything to do with how much you know (and I think Phant would throw a fit if he was labeled "guru" ;) :D)...

But then again, we've had this discussion before, and none of us managed to come up with any good ideas....

No need to discuss about the post count thing anymore, I believe they are better up although with a new scheme of user titles that I will work on this coming week.
