The best answer is to get rid of that norton crap!!

Download either the free AVG or Avast antivirus programmes and either the free Zonealarm or Kerio firewall programmes from within this link - http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic58138.html

Then, disconnect from the net and completely uninstall Symantec/Norton. If you have any problems in uninstalling the programme, take a look at this thread - http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic57112.html

Once you`ve completely uninstalled Symantec/Norton, reboot your system and install whichever firewall programme you chose, followed by whichever antivirus programme you chose. Reboot your system the required number of times and reconnect to the net. Run the antivirus updates.

Yeah Norton is a piece of crap, I tell my mom that all the time and she says "It's the best antivirus program out there!!!!11" then I go along with it then one day I scanned her laptop and found like 200 viruses but since norton is so good I didnt delete them :haha: ( I know it's mean but she thinks norton is alot better then Avast! / AVG so.. eh ;) )

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Maybe you should consider getting rid of Norton altogether and using something else?

Here is a list of free antivirus and firewall programmes as well as some free antispyware programmes that I recommend.

AVG free or Avast antivirus programmes.

Zonealarm or Kerio free firewall programmes.

    Spybot Search & Destroy.

    Ad-Aware se personal.

    Spyware Blaster.

    AVG Antispyware.

    Ccleaner.

You would need to download whichever antivirus and firewall programme you chose, then disconnect from the net and uninstall Norton. If you have any problems in uninstalling Norton, see this thread HERE.

Then, once Norton is completely uninstalled, reboot your system and install whichever firewall programme you chose, followed by whichever antivirus programme you chose.

Reboot your system the required number of times and reconnect to the net. Run the antivirus updates.

If you still have net problems after that, then open a new thread in our storage and networking forum.

    Regards Howard
