on board sound

have a packard bell from a friend did a reformat with win 98 se gigabyute mobo GA-6WMM7 ymf744 on board sound cannot get drivers to work any ideas will be appreciated.

although, installing drivers in Win98 can be difficult if it chooses to be non-cooperative. It's been too long since I dealt with Win98 to get more specific about battling OS vs. Drivers issues.
