Open Forum: What do you think of the iPhone 7?

Like No Man’s Sky and who is the best Game of Thrones character (Tyrion, obviously), the iPhone 7 is already causing heated arguments. Some early reviews say the 7 and 7 Plus handsets are great devices that will be adored by Apple fans, while others claim there simply isn’t enough new features to warrant an upgrade, especially with next year’s iPhone 8 rumored to launch with an entirely new design.

And then there’s the removal of the headphone jack, something that pretty much everybody – apart from Apple execs – seems to think was a bad idea. iPhone 7 owners who want to use wired headphones and charge the phone simultaneously will have to use an extra dongle, which isn’t a great solution.

So, for this weekend open forum, we want to know your thoughts on the iPhone 7. Would you buy one? How do you think it compares to the top-end Android devices? Has Apple shown a lack of innovation? Will the absence of a 3.5mm connection become a common theme among future smartphones, and will dropping it from the iPhone hurt sales? Whatever your thoughts, do let us know.

It's been pretty stagnant for the last couple of years and they've still been selling them by the boatload. I'm sure they will sell a ton of phones and 3.5mm adapters.

I'm about to get a 7 plus for my work device. Not too stoked - it's gonna be another meh device again. The headphone dilemma was a terrible idea - I honestly thought Apple was smarter than making one choose between charging your phone or using wired earbuds.

Jobs would be losing his freaking mind right now on such a rookie design flaw, IMO.

Meh, I'm not paying for it. So I can't really complain.

Welcome to the hate bandwagon. Bring your best shots. You can see Intel, Apple, and Nvidia articles are the most commented of them all. What are similar to these companies? They simply excel in their own field.

Seriously, looking forward to it on my next phone upgrade in December. Haters gonna hate :p

pretty sure the vast majority of the people here are on the intel nvidia bandwagon buddy

Meh...I just have a hard time getting excited over anything Apple any more. I have loved some of their devices in the past but it just doesn't seem to be the same since Steve passed.

It's Apple, so I really don't care. Also watching the sure to bugs and issues with the this overpriced phone in the coming months will be amusing.

I have upgraded my iPhone every 2 years.... but I've found that my "old" iPhone is generally at death's door by that time, and an upgrade is almost necessary.... this time around, my iPhone 6+ is still running fine... so I figure I'll wait another year for the 8.

Heh, yet another iDevice that will be avoided. This time around though it will be more amusing seeing people try to defend the removal of the 3.5mm jack (or more specifically, the non-replacement of that port. And no, the adapter doesn't count because the port it connects to was already there).

Apple products are generally overpriced inferior hardware.

I don't need the latest and greatest.

But one thing I absolutely loathe is the fact that an iporn or an iplod can not play a measly mp3 file.. nooo you will have to use itunes to convert it to crapples own format in order to play it.

Why degrade quality by another conversion?!? That's just plain stupid.

And why use proprietary ports instead of a normal usb type port.

So, no thanks, I'll stick to Android where I can load mp3's directly on my microSD card and play them, and charge my phone with any old micro USB cable regardless of price and manufacturer...

LOL. Try harder next time. They can play mp3 files ever since the birth of ipod. Ignorance is a crime. Imagining things huh.

I was under the impression that 256bit files were down-converted, glad to hear I was wrong.
