I'm not sure I'm following you, what web links are those that you are talking?

I think wolfram is talking about the new hyperlink button in the reply window.

I must confess it had me a little confused for a few minutes.

    wolfram.

When in the reply window click on the insert link button and paste or type the url you wish to use and click ok. You will notice a section of the url is highlighted. Tap your left arrow key and you will see a flashing cursor. This is where you type the name you wish to use for the link.

    Regards Howard :)

Easier than that, just write whatever you want to post, then highlight with your mouse what you want linked and click on the button. The hyperlink will be added to the text you selected.

I hadn`t thought of doing that

Thank you a lot for the advice. It's a little harder to do, but no problem. :)
The main problem is that I'm VERY VERY lazy :haha:

Due to an user request you can now quick reply without clicking any post beforehand. I had forgot this is an option available in vB 3.5, and well it's much more practical especially for us that do not use threaded views.

well we lost a couple of forums, but I don't think the buy/sell forum was taking off anyway... no real loss.

Tedster, you couldnt be more wrong, in my opinion. The section wasnt given enough time, many people didnt even know it was there. Regardless, a section like that takes a bit of time to grow and reach its potential, not a couple weeks and gone.
As i stated, a "for sale" section would bring new people on board and help this forum grow. In addition, as i have seen in other forums, the people who participate in such a section, and most end up participating in the end, are the ones who most financially support their forum!
So there is a lot you dont know is at stake here. I feel i can speak with a bit of authority as i am a member of many forums with a "for sale" section and i have seen these forums grow. And when it came time to support their forum, the same people who used that section were the ones that were "up front and center" when the forum needed money to, say, buy new equipment.
Its too bad that not a lot of people will even see this post and point out they would like this section back!
I could go on about the benefits of having a "for sale" section but i won't.
I will only say that i dont believe the statement that it would be too hard to police. Just a few people with knowledge of how to handle this forum would be all that is needed! I know i could.
In the end, this forum may never know how it stabbed itself in the back.
So, please, why put down a section you dont understand and fear. Why are these "for sale" sections flourishing in other forums? They do understand and they dont fear!
Im pretty much done supporting this "for sale" section but i couldnt help a final post or 2, lol.

nork - this forum has been around many years and thrived without a for sale forum. It has also been discussed at length probably 6 or more times since I've been around here, and every time we decide its a bad idea. I had a post earlier in this thread already saying this.

I know all that! I know its been brought up many times and defeated.

Doesnt mean this forum shouldnt have a "for sale" section.
In my opinion the reasons for having one outweigh the reasons for not doing so.

@ SNGX1275 How come nobody mentioned that when Socrates initially brought it up. After the suggestion was virtually turned down, Julio came out and said he thought that it was a good idea and he'd run it for a trial period.

    Hi JUlio.

    I was just wondering.

At the bottom of the forums in the moderation tools, would it be possible to add the remove redirects option? It would sure make tidying the forums a lot quicker and easier.

    Thanks.

    Regards Howard :)
