    Hello.
    Newbie here.
I have a strange problem with outlook express. I am running Windows xp and last night everything was fine. I went to use outlook express this morning and when I click onto the icon i get the following......

    The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction CS:0de5IP:0112 OP"63 9b 1b 8d a2
    Any ideas????
  2. kimsland Ex-TechSpotter

    Start-->Run--> sfc /scannow

May require your Windows CD. Network should be out. Can take around an hour to complete.
  3. raven01 Newcomer, in training

    thanks

What do you mean by network should be out?
  4. kimsland Ex-TechSpotter

If you have a network cable (Ethernet or USB Network cable) please unplug it first.
ie you don't need to be online or part or any network with another computer whilst scanning
  5. raven01 Newcomer, in training

OK thanks I will give that a try later. I dont think I have the windows cd so that maybe a problem
  6. kimsland Ex-TechSpotter

    I hope you do.
Otherwise it's editing ini files and registry entries, confirming system files and alike !
  7. raven01 Newcomer, in training

    kimsland

    I dont have a cd.......??
  8. kimsland Ex-TechSpotter

    Please download Aspi version checker
    Or directly from h e r e

Save the output to a reply here.

Also, this fault may be Spyware related

Download and install AVG Antispyware(formerly Ewido).
Double-click the icon on your desktop to run it.
On the top of the main screen click Shield. Click the word active to change it to inactive.
On the top of the main screen click 'Update'. Then click on 'Start update'. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can get the manual update at http://downloads.ewido.net/avgas-sig...ll-current.exe
If you are in Windows Safe mode, and can't see the whole screen due to resolution, you can Hold ALT + Spacebar, then scroll down to Maximize and press enter.
When you have finished updating, exit AVG Antispyware.

For a complete pictorial guide to the use of AVG Antispyware look HERE. Thanks to rik for the guide.
