your video card is supported it's just a problem that only a patch can fix it was the same with Kotor, i'm able to play for a couple of hours before things screw up mines a Radeon 9600 256mb with the latest catalyst drivers 5.2, and i have tried every other driver with no effect so your not alone, There is still no word on a release date for the patch they seem to be taking their time maybe there is more screwed up then they first thought, or maybe they just want to make sure the patch fixes all the problems either way we are still going to have to wait.

Oh, I am having an problem just like this guy. I just bought the game from the store and I can't play anything untill now (it crashes just right at the loading after the first intro movie). I still hear the sound from the game but I can't control the in-game character and I can only terminate the game. I tried to turn off the movie but the problem still happen.
    Can anyone help me?

What video card are you trying to run the game with maybe it isn't supported by the game, if it is then download the patch and make sure you have the latest drivers installed, that solved the problem for me.

I had the same problem as above the gave kept crashing at random. I'm running an ati 9550 Pro and had the latest drivers. so i decided to roll my drivers back to catalist Ver. 3.6 and have had no problems since.

Well I had a strange problem with mine, I was installing it and I kept getting an error saying please insert the correct volume in the drive KOTOR2_1.....so for awhile I couldn't even get it installed. Then after I get sp2 it magically installs. I thought my troubles are over I can play it etc.....Wrong I make my character and go through the cinematics....the Ebon Hawk on fire and all of a sudden the black screen. I played the first one and had no problems now the second one decides it wants everyone to suffer. Why would they market a game that has the majority of people who bought it frustrated with a game that dosen't work. I'm almost thinking reformat, screw sp2 and try it that way. Or maybe go back to windows 98 if it will run on it.

i had similar problems with kotor 1

i had similar problems with kotor 1 where the screen was black but i heard the audio and the screen would skip around during gameplay i think it has to do with the game but not sure

    The Solution

A friend of mine got his to work no problem, I updated my drivers and all that but this right here could work:
    Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1
put that under graphics in the swkotor2.ini
If it dosen't work I dunno why but it's been working fine for me. :)

Sigh, why wont the good things in life work?

Could someone help? I'm having some trouble, Kotor2 seems to launch fine, but just before it gets to the main menu, right after the Lucasarts and Obsidian videos, it shuts down. No error messages or anything. All my hardware is up to date with drivers and whatnot, I've downloaded the patch, everything i can think of, I've tried. No luck. Help, please!
