I just installed a Geforce2 mx400 64mb and all I get when Win 98 starts is the green background, no mouse, nothing. This happened right after I had installed the drivers that came with the video card

    I have

    Windows 98
    Athlon 1.33 GHz
    K7S5A sis from ecs
    256 mb RAM
    250 W power supp.

Please help, really don't know where to start.:dead:

    Thanks

Did you remove the drivers for the old card first?

Can you start up in safe mode? If you can then it is most likely conflicting drivers. I dont' remember if you can uninstall and install drivers in safe mode though...

I removed everything and now the card is working fine. I still had the previous drivers in and installed the new one without removing the old drivers.

    Thanks for the advice!

Boot into safe mode, uninstall your video drivers. Then install the proper ones. This might help you out.

I had this problem once. I have a MSI GF2MX in my second machine, I tried installing several different versions of detonator drivers, but in the end I just used the drivers that were on the MSI CD. Seemed to solve the problem.
