PS4 retail prices confirmed $799 $899

According to Nick McCandless sony stated the PS4 will be releasing at the "very conservative" price of $799 for base and $899 for premium model. Now, even for a next gen console $799 seems pretty steep. McCandless didn't provide any sources for his statement. So, it could very well be an inaccurate price tag. Nonetheless, I wonder how many people will be able to justify such a purchase.

Personally, I know I would have a hard time convincing myself to buy one.

People say it may retail near $500. The games are up for preorder on Amazon for $99.
