Goodness, that's a lot of browsers.
At this point, I guess it doesn't hurt to try to install Java in a different directory. I don't have a clue why the installation didn't work before. Have you tried that link in post #124?
Looks like the troubleshooter found some problems but you haven't gone through w/ the repair? I'd say let it fix the items it found.
I ran the Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter but since I don't want it messing up anything on my work laptop, I selected the 2nd option "Detect problems and let me select the fixes to apply". Then it asks whether I have problem installing or uninstalling a program. I stopped at this point since I don't have any issues.
Going by your screenshot, looks like you selected the one that says you have problem installing program? I thought the problem was incomplete uninstall of Java causing the problem?
If you select Not Listed, then you'll need to enter a string of letters/numbers, don't have any idea what that would be.
Ok, I went with the UNinstall option & got the same screen shot. I'm going to click NOT LISTED.Going by your screenshot, looks like you selected the one that says you have problem installing program? I thought the problem was incomplete uninstall of Java causing the problem?

Guess its time to ???
Install Java in a different directory if it lets you? I'm out of ideas at this point. Sorry.
For what its worth, when I re installed Google Chrome, it gave me the choice to install java to a different folder. I didn't do such because I didn't know if I should or not.
Was referring to this.
Something to try, method #4 here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301
But in this case, you'll be searching for Java installer in step #1.
Skip step #2.
Step #3, check if there's a Java folder in "c:\Program Files\Common Files\". Delete it if present.
Skip step #4.
Then reboot. And see if you can install Java.

Ok, do I delete java fiolder I show in the previous thread?
Yes, that would be step #3. Delete Java folder in the Common Files folder.
Where in step 1.6 are you stuck? You don't see "Subject"? If that's the case, you'll need to scroll down the list.
