Sounds like someone has a woody for AMD...
    ...a classic case of fanboyitis...
...wow! high in the ! sky!...Let us all hope that it's more a case of Boeing 747 than say, the F-104 Starfighter.
So after all this AMD (ATI is officially dead) l-o-v-e!!! Your principle reason for not going with the much beloved 6870 is....
You do know that GTA IV or ArmA 2.....drumroll....
DO NOT ! SUPPORT ! PhysX ! ?.......!!!!!!!!?!?!?!? ( <<<a few extra's just in case you run out).
But of course, you're thinking ahead too...
But if you get the GTX 460 I'm pretty sure it can't go high in the sky...just let me check.................nope!. I tossed it out the window and it went straight to the ground. Bummer, they never mentioned that in the quick start guide.

Here's an idea...buy the object of your nerd-love (the aforementioned 6870), then but a secondhand/cheap nvidia card with at least 512Mb of vRAM then go >>>here<<< and do what they say to do. Hey!Presto!....! AMD+PhysX
