Random Thought, your opinion?

Didn't we just have a thread on worthless replies? If it takes me locking threads to stop this crap I will, but it would be much nicer on everyone if we could just have everyone think before they post.

The other day I somehwo forgot to put the gas cap back in my car and drove off without it .. oops.. lol good thing I had an extra one
That reminds me of one of the dumbest things I have ever wittnessed. I was at a gas station and this guy came out of the store, got in his car and started to drive off. there was a horrible noise and I noticed that he had not put the hose back after pumping his gas. He drove off with it like that and ripped it down. He made it all the way to the street before he realised what he had done.

SNGX1275, what the heck are you talking about? this thread was created long before that thread that you are speaking of.

my god..

Edited because of language

I think SNGX was refering to the last few one or two word replies to the thread rather than the thread itself.

Be cautious - This IS general discussion and just about anything goes. I admit, there is a topic, but this forum is for kicking it back and talking about whatever. No need to get bent over about a few silly posts here.. At least I don't think so. ;)

Analogy: It's like going to an amusement to enjoy yourself (board), but getting pissed at the long lines (junk posts). It's a legitimate complaint, but you came to enjoy yourself man! Just play it cool and cut in line if you have to (skip posts).

Replies like "mmm hmmm" and "uhhh huh" might not serve a whole lot of purpose in a technical discussion, but this thread isn't exactly chock-full of important information to begin with. :)

I'd be a little more concerned if I saw this stuff posted in a thread meant to help someone or solve a probem.

That thread was created in response to all the crap that has recently surfaced on the entire forum.
It was just the continued replys in this thread that didn't even contain words that made me say something here.

Well, what I have noticed is the people that usually are posting those types of 'pointless threads' are new members. The rest of us seem to be able to sustain a certain maturity level. Although some of us do stray from that, but that is human nature.

Sometimes you can say a lot by not appearing to say very much - the meaning is implicit, and only appears to be nonscence if you haven't followed the thread.

Ok, first of all GOOD MORNING to all of you! Is about 9:40 eastern here in TN.

Ok back to the thread. I don't know what the problem is. To me this board is just a place for all of us "Techies" to relate to other "Techies" and just vent sometimes, or just post questions to things we can't figure out. Or just shoot the breeze which is what we are doing, unless I am blind :)

Now, I am new here as of March, and I assure you, that I am not here to get treated like a child. I am 22 and married, and have an Associates in Electronics Engineering, and Working for a company that has been in Business for 170 years. ( Yea you read it right) I am here just to chill, and hang.

I am not here to belittle anyone or talk down to anyone. So I guess what I am just saying is just relax. There are far worse things in this world to get ticked off at, then just 1 or 2 word replys.

So in the quote of a SNL character " SIMMA DOWN NAH" haha :)

tnred: lol, well your right that was kind of the point of this thread. I come upon some crazy things when I am doing tech support and like you said I need to vent. hehe. Sometimes I just want to lash out and curse some people out for being so clueless but in a job like this you just can't do that. I am just glad that tech support is only about 20% of my job. If I had to deal with this kind of thing for 8 hours a day I would end up going postal. It will seriously drive you insane. I have a lot of respect for most people in technical support, even though they aren't a lot of help sometimes, but these guys working for Bellsouth and other companies doing Internet support do it all day long and I can't imagine how stressfull it is. I know how stressfull it is doing tech support a few times a day. Doing it for 8 hours a day would literally drive me insane.

I am right there with ya. :D A lot of the time I have to Deal with DELL Computer Corporatioin, and Oh don't even get me started on them.

Here is another funny( ok funny to me) story.

So I am the phone with Dell, and I am talkin to the guy and I give him a service tag number and all of my info and he says how can I help you.

I said. The power supply fan has gone out and I need one of your guys to either send a new Power Supply out or come by and replace it.( since it is under warrranty)

The tech guy said, well mam, we need to test that before we send out a new part.

I said test it!!! There is nothing to test, the fan is not moving!

He says, we we still need to test it.

I said, um dude, ther is nothing to test. The fan is not going in a 360 degree direction which is nessicary for proper cooling!
( at this time I was kind irritated, cause this call had already been going on too long!)

He said well mam we need to test it. ( every vaine in my forhead poping out at this point!!!!!)

I said Man listen, I know you are doing your job, and you do need to test things, but in this case there is nothing to test. The computer is up and running, the guy is working fine, but the pc is not getting cooled off properly. Now send a tech out here and fix the part that is under warranty, or let me talk to your supervisor?

He said, Yes Mam', we will get that shipped out to you tonight, can I have your address??

HAHA, I know he was following directions, but sometimes your schpill just dosent work. That and the other fact that everytime you call DELL, you never get a human, or you get transferred about 10 times before you talk to some one.

Then when you do get someone, you get someone that is from another country, and you can barley understand them..... No offense, but accents tend to be tricky!
o
I guess since I am from the south, I have no room to talk, but at least I don't sound like a hick!! rotflmbo( rolling on the floor laughing my butt off) ;) haha!!

Anyways, that's my story and I am stickin to it:D

Very true, seems like everytime I have ever called Bellsouth, VISA, Bank of America, or any large company you wait 5 minutes to get through the menu pressing 1,2,3,2,3,4,1,etc... just to get a billing rep., THEN when someone picks up, 5 minutes later they tell you they are going to transfer you to someone else and don't even give you time to say no wait, they just transfer you, then you wait 20 minutes to speak to that person and have to tell them Yea the guy just transferred me but it was HIM i needed to speak to.

I've had that happen so many times. Which is one reason I have a $1200 credit card that hasnt been paid on in 2 years because of lack of service such as that.

Yea, we have had some problems with BellSouth too. I am just convienced people really don't give a rat's butt about what they do as long as they get paid.

I have a $1200 limit on my credit card too, and I try not to put anything on it unless I have to. Credit will bit you in the butt if you are not carefull! knowwhatImean?

Well, to be honest I didn't do anything I wasnt supposed to do. I had a limit of $1000 and had about $997 on my card and VISA/Bank of America decided "Hey let us charge this guy $5 so we can put his card over the limit!". They had NEVER charged me this fee before and wanted to call it a standard fee that was legit (which is TOTAL bullhockey).

I was paying $100/month on that card when I only HAD to pay $20. Then they pulled that crap on me and then I was paying abotu $100/month (minimum required fee) because of monthly fee, plus over the limit fees and late fees.

I would sue, but I was in college so what could I have done.

Doesn't that just piss you off? Basically the only thing you can do is bite the bullet on that one.

Personally I think they target college students as easy targets, and exploit them to their fullest capabilities.

Yea, it really does piss me off. My credit is F'd because of it now. I would burn down VISA's headquarters if I knew where it was.

I think everyone does. I mean I know people are out to make money, but things like the hidden charges, and retroactive billing, just get stupid.

That is why I plan on not having anymore credit cards than what I have. If I could just get my student loans paid off, I would be happy!!!

hmm I'm quite lucky mine only came out to 10,000 Though that isn't US dollars I'd guess thats about 5,000 US.. Yeah around that, Though the system here is pretty good we borrow from the goverment and thier not allowed to make money from it :D
