The NIC of my laptop stop receiving packets the other day. I have been through the usual, reinstall drivers remove/disable firewalls and AV programs and still nothing.
I ahve also reinstalled using the recovery discs and still the same.
I have install Vista onto it and install the network driver and it works perfectly. So i install XP media Center ( which is its original OS ) and still no joy. i was wondering if anyone else has the problem or has seen it before.

The Laptop can ping itself but nothing else

Here is a copy of the ipconfig /all which all looks ok aswell

Any help would be great received.

C:\Documents and Settings\Carolyn>ipconfig /all

FYI... your computer cant see the DNS server listed (it's on a different subnet). So you wont be able to access the web, or do any name resolution.

Note that your ipconfig indicates
1) it's managed to connect to your router (192.168.1.1)
2) At least to exchange data to get its IP address!(192.168.1.9) assigned by the router

Have you also tried pinging the router as it clearly can communicate with it?!

ping 192.168.1.1

Try this as well after booting into SAFE mode with networking and disabling any firewalls (tho again seems to be connecting to the router as it's currently configured for DHCP AND the router has assigned it an IP address!)

The DNS is fine as it is many others work plugged into this router.

In Safe mode the router and card show that it is connected ( Lights on both router and card light up and show data being passed ) but windows reports as being disconnected, so i cant ping.
Also it cant ping when booted normally either.
Also has i said before this card work perfectly fine with Vista but the original install of XP media centre just doesnt do anything.

hmm; doubtful

if so, you should be able
  • to ping the DNS address itself
  • also perform nslookup google.com and get the ipaddress reported to you

get a command prompt and run
netstat -r
and post back the results
