Hi There.

I Am Having A Problem With All My Removable Drives - Camera And Flash Disks. Was Wondering If Anyone Else Has / Have Had This And How I Can Cure It?

I Am Running Windows 200 Professional With Sp4 Installed.

I Can Connect All My Removable Drives Via Usb And Read / Write To Them Fine.

The Trouble Is When I Try To Stop The Device, It Will Not Stop And The Pc Locks Up. Some Times It Will Just Crash And Other It Will Come Back Without Removing The Device. If This Happens You Can Pull The Drive Out Of Usb But It Will Still Show As Being In My Computer And The Computer Is Then No Longer Capable Of Shutting Down.

I Recently Had A Hd Problem So Put It Down To That But Now Having Replaced The Hd With A Clean Format And Install Of Win 200 Pro, I Still Have The Same Problem.

I Have Tried Disabling Start-up Programs And Applications But To No Success.

In My Endeavours To Finding The Problem I Have Discovered That All Removable Drives Work Correctly And Can Be Stopped In Safe Mode. I Have Also Found That If I Connect The Drive Before Booting The Pc I Can Stop It But If I Re-connect It Then Try To Stop It Again, The Same Problem Occurs.

I Am Out Of Ideas - Can Any One Help? Please?

update drivers?

have you tried updating your drivers? or reinstalling them? that may help... who knows. that one is a bit touch and go isnt it? lol. good luck with it dude...

My PC also runs W2K/SP4, with all the possible MS-updates.
Did you install the drivers from the mobo-CD? These are vital to proper functioning.
I use a USK-key regularly. To remove it, make sure that no other program is accessing that drive (such as Windows Explorer, Powerdesk etc.) directly or indirectly, i.e. close them first.
Then LEFT-click on the green-arrow in systray, LEFT-click on the question-box.
Occasionally I have to do that twice, but normally works like a charm.
Never start/switch off the PC with a flash-memory inserted, it could wreck the contents.

Thanks,

I have already tried reinstalling the drivers but it had no effect.

I will check to see if any applications are accessing the drive but I don't think so as have chekced before. Can't hurt to check again though. Thanks
