Roku has started to roll out a new screen mirroring feature for a select number of Windows 8/Phone and Android devices. Still in beta and supported only on the Roku 3 and Roku Streaming Stick, the new feature will be available to all customers within the next few weeks, the company says.

Screen mirroring, as the name suggests, allows the mirroring of your device to your TV screen wirelessly, enabling you to easily share stuff you have saved on your device, including pictures, videos, presentations, and more.

To enable the feature, head to the Settings menu on your Roku 3, select the "Screen mirroring" option, and make sure that the "Enable screen mirroring" option is checked. Now, enable screen mirroring on your Android or Windows-based device, which should be on the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku player, and begin streaming. You can also refer to Roku's platform-specific guides (Android, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8) in case you need help.

Screen mirroring from Android to Roku requires Android 4.4.2 or newer, and the company explicitly notes that custom ROMs are not supported.

As for hardware requirements, Roku just says "hardware must support screen mirroring". Although there is a list of devices that have been successfully tested on the Roku 3 and Roku Streaming Stick, the company is quick to note that "other devices may work".
