Inactive Rootkits detected, i need help!

Hey all I am new to this site, but i have just recently discoverd whilst running an avg rootkit scan i have two rootkits under the same name of norton something, it says they are hidden, when i tried to remove them i got a messaqge saying it couldnt.
now i am a student and money is tight, is there anyway someone can helpfully guide mt through removing these rootkits? please!
