Hey,

I recently purchased 1 gb of SDRam (2 x 512mb) for my computer. after i installed it (and i know i did it right) my computer just beeped and wouldn't start up.
Can anyone help me?

My motherboard is: Compaq 0788h

and the ram is: KTC-PRL 133/512

Thanks so much.

K so i read the manual but am having trouble understanding everything it says:

-Support for unbuffered pc133 sdr sdram only
-support for non-ECC (64b wide) or ECC (72b wide) Pc133 sdram
-Does no support mixing of ECC and non-ECC pc133 sdram
-support for 64mb, 128, 256 and 512mb technologies for x8 and x16 devices
-Support for minimum of 32mb (4m x 16b x 4 devices x 1 row) using 64mb technology
-Support for maximum of 3gb (64m x 8b x 8 devices x 6 rows) using 512mb technology
-Support for CAS latency 2 and/or CAS latency 3 pc133 sdram

can anyone figure out why my ram doesn't work from that?

Try booting with only one memory module, then shut down and try with only the other memory module. It is possible that one of the modules is incorrectly seated... or that one module is bad.

However, there are vendors who sell you a type of PC133 memory that will not work in certain computers unless they are high speed. In otherwords, depending on where you got the memory, it may not be suitable for your computer...
This is a big problem with PC 133 memory sold on eBay. The memory will work on the correct motherboard, but they take advantage of some users by selling non-standard PC133 memory that is limited to a very few motherboards.
