Should I wait for the Core 2 E6230 and E6420??

Hey, I just saw some benchmarks, and saw the AMAZING overclocking potential of the E4300.
Just making it run at the standard E6300 1066 FSB, it will run at 2.39 Ghz!!! My mobo (GA-965P-S3) should be able to handle it

If I wanted to overclock the E6300 to 2.3 Ghz, I would need to make the FSB run at 330 Mhz. At 330 Mhz FSB, a E4300 would run at 2.9 Ghz!!!!!

I'm going to get a Celeron D CPU right now, and then wait for the price drop. It is rumored to cost 133 bucks later this year.

No E6300 for me.

I run my E6300 at 400MHz FSB (2.8 GHz) 24/7. I can run it up to a 425 FSB and dual Orthos runs for hours with no errors but I backed it off for solid stability.

At 365 MHz FSB I have to set my RAM timings to SPD and my P5W DH sets it to 5-6-6-18 I hate that! My Gskill 2x1024mb PC6400 is rated 4-4-4-12 at 400 MHz but just can't hang. I think Gskill has quit selling it.

Anyway with the 9x muntiplyer of a E4300 I could max out at 425x9 for 3.825 GHz if the CPU could do it. At 333x9 I could run 3-4-4-12 timings 1:1 for 3 GHz or with the 400 MHz FSB I use now it would be at 3.6 GHz. It would be nice to be CPU limited instead of by my RAM or mobo.

Your S3 can run much higher FSB's than my P5W DH and can overclock a E6300 nicely--if you have some good RAM. I need better RAM, but a E4300 would be much cheaper.

Paying $196.99 for a E4300 is about the same as spending $65 for the Celeron plus $133 for a E4300. You should just get a Core 2 Duo and skip the Celeron.:hotouch:

But I think he is buying the Celeron because he wants his new computer to work right away instead of having to go a few months "computerless."

And I think I'll wait to get $$$ for the Core 2 E4300. I don't want to get a Netburst based CPU again. They're pretty crappy.
