    Uninstall Java(TM) 6 Update 30.

    Windows Defender is totally useless so I strongly suggest you keep it OFF.

    Is BitDefender working OK?

    Windows defender was on because I had removed bit defender temporarily. I reinstalled bitdefender and its still not working. The service randomly stops. I've never seen an infection like this.

    Broni,
    First of all - thanks for everything. Now, I installed Avast and it worked normally. It scanned and found nothing to be concerned with. More importantly, its service never unexpectedly quit like MSE, Bit & Kaspersky. After running avast scan I uninstalled it and put Bitdefender back in and sure enough it kept quitting. At that point I threw in the towel and restored the factory image of the PC (dell optiplex 390 with windows 7 pro 32-bit). Once the restore completed I installed MSE and THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE! The service just quits. Have you ever seen anything like this? I actually formatted the OS partition before manually restoring the Dell factory WIM. My only plan now is to install a new drive and load it from scratch to see what happens.

    I'm beyond baffled.

    This is beyond the scope of this forum.

    In here we only deal with infected computers.
