In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 from HERE. Save it to your Desktop and extract it.

2. Download the attached avengerscript.txt and save it to your desktop

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.

Under "Script file to execute" choose "Load script from file".
Now click on the folder icon which will open a new window titled "open Script File"
navigate to the file you have just downloaded, click on it and press open
Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:

It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

5. Please attach the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Regards Howard :)

After I download Avenger by Swandog46, which mode should I perform the above steps in? Normal mode or Saft mode?

If I had wanted you to boot into safe mode, I would have said so. Normal mode is fine. Just make sure you follow the instructions I gave you exactly.

Regards Howard :)

I just download Avenger by Swandog46, but the program would not start because it does support Window Vista

Ok, that`s another Vista incompatible programme then.

Try this.

Download the Pocket Killbox programme from HERE. Extract it but don`t run it yet.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Run the killbox.exe file. When it loads type the full path to the file you would like to delete in the field and check the delete file on reboot button. press the Delete File button (looks like a red circle with a white X). It will prompt you to reboot, select no until you have finished inputting the files you want to delete, only then allow it to reboot and hopefully your files will now be deleted. If your computer doesn`t automatically restart, restart it manually.

These are the filepaths you need to enter into killbox.

d:\hp\apps\app12294\src\install\games\cakemania-setup.exe
c:\users\jing\appdata\local\temp\nerodemo12541\toolbar.exe

Once your system has rebooted, rehide your protected OS files.

I've followed the instruction to delete those two infected files, and then I ran a full scan again to make sure they've gone away. However, the scanner still detected those two Adwares, but this time in a different file:
c:\!killbox\toolbar.exe < Adware.MWS.68 >
c:\!killbox\cakemania-setup.exe:data031:data002 < Adware.Spywarestorm>
By following the diretory shown, suprisingly, I was able to locate those two infected files. What should I do next?

After I deleted those two Adwares, I notice another problem: When I right-click on the desktop icon, and then click open, it did not respond
(Ex. Internet Explorer, Winow Defender.....). Now I have to double-click in order to open them, how do I resolve this?
By the way, Will those two Adwares infect other files even though I've deleted the files they infected?

See if this helps.

Will those two Adwares infect other files even though I've deleted the files they infected?
Edit/Delete Message

Since the infection appears to have been killed, I doubt it can infect your system again. Of course a lot depends on how you got the infection in the first place. In nearly every case, infection can be avoided by sensible surfing and online behaviour.

Regards Howard :)

Does that mean those two Adwares still exsit in my system? By the way, do you know what is "cakemania-setup.exe"(the file I've deleted)?

Since your scanner is presumably not detecting the files any longer, it`s fairly safe to say they have been deleted.

The cakemania-setup.exe file as already shown, is part of the Adware.SpywareStorm.

Hey Howard, once again thanks for your help. One more thing I want to say: looks like "Pocket Killbox" is much easier to use than "Avenger by Swandog46" in the way you instructed. What is the difference between them?
I prefer Pocket Killbox.

The Avenger is a lot more versatile than KIllbox, though Killbox is very good for some things.

However, as we found out, the Avenger isn`t compatible with Vista.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.

hey howard, I suspect there are some nasty malwares in my computer that slow my computer down, I've post the Hijackthis log hoping you can help me out. Thanks!

Have HJT fix the following entries.

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\Windows\system32\Userinit.exe

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

Other than the above useless entries, your HJT log is clean.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.

I can't fix the above entries in normal mode! After I place a tick in front of those entries and then click the fix button, another window show up with no content. What did I do wrong?

You didn`t do anything wrong and in anycase, those entries aren`t dangerous. Just leave them alone if you want.

There`s nothing nasty in your HJT log.

Are you sure the following entries:
*F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\Windows\system32\Userinit.exe
*O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) aren't dangerous? If they aren't dangerous, why did you suggest me to fix them? I'm a little confuse?

Userinit.exe

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)=Windows Live Messenger.

Both entries are ok and nothing to worry about.

You can fix them from normal mode if you want. If they come back, don`t worry. It may be something to do with Vista.
