SSD not booting up

Hi

I bought an SSD for my PC and just installed Windows 7 on it. I installed it like this:
I left the old HDD in my system so I wouldn't need to copy everything to an external hard drive. I installed it and copied my libraries (Documents, Music, Videos and Pictures) directly from the old hard drive. When I finished successfully, I set the 1st boot priority to the SSD and then I turned off the system to remove the old hard drive. When I powered the system on to confirm everything is still working. An error message comes up that says "Reboot and select proper boot device" and on the next line another message says "Or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". That's really strange, as the OS is definitely installed on my SSD, there shouldn't be any problems booting. I then put the old hard drive back in along with my SSD then it works fine.
Can someone please help me with this strange issue?

Thanks! :)

The SSD drive must be marked ACTIVE and have the Legacy or UEFI boot records on it to enable this to be the primary boot drive.
