    Hi all,
    I have a bizarre problem.
I rebuilt my son's PC into a new box in order to silence it. Everything went OK,
rebooted and ran like a charm. Two days later my son comes and says there's a sound coming from the PC after POST (which works) during login. I go up and listen. He's right, during the XP "progress bar" and login screen there is a flow of tones, something like the POST error code for missing CPU but more varied and after 20 - 30 sec it goes away. A reboot is completely quiet and normal. it apparently some kind of heat related.
I've changed back to original Intel CPU fan, reinstalled XP, graphics driver, reseated what can be reseated but still the tones. A "cold" boot from XP CD gives same result so it can't be SW related.

    Any ideas?
    Regards
    Hans
