    Unlocker 1.9.1 is fine.
You just not following my instructions.

    Unlocker

I uninstalled Lock hunter and went back to Unlocker. I have version 1.9.1 of this program. (older versions are not available via the provided link) When I open windows explorer and right click on the folder to open Unlocker I have the option to Delete but it does not give me a start command such as the OK button in your instructions. The only command buttons I have available are Kill Processes, Unlock, Unlock All and Quit. So when I select Delete from the drop down menu .... what do I do at that point?

    Select "Delete".

    Avast

Ok...I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was opening the Unlock program first, instead of trying to delete first. So I deleted all the files with the Unlock program. It said it would finish the process when I rebooted. I rebooted, and avast was still there. So I went into Safe Mode and I was able to delete the files. Finally. Yeah I thought. Not so much.

When I rebooted after removing the last of the Avast files, my windows will not load in regular mode. I'm in safe mode with networking currently. When I tried to restart in regular mode it just kept circling back to the beginning. It tries to load windows but crashes it looks like before cycling back to try again.

I'm not sure what I did wrong or how removing a virus protection could cause so much trouble. It looks like I've made things worse just when I thought I was finally done. :( I'm so sorry.

    Windows Crashing

Well I tried to reboot again with no luck. It crashes right before I would normally get the logon popup for windows. There is a split second where I get a blue screen with some kind of error message but I don't know how to stop it so I can view it and let you know what it is.

Reboot in safe mode and use the latest restore point you created in your reply #43 (yesterday).

    Avast

I was able to uninstall Avast with aswclear. However, I have a few files that are associated with avast that i am leery of deleting without a go ahead.

avastSS which is located at c:\WINDOWS
_avast_ which is located at c:\\Documents and Settings\Jazz\Local Settings\temp
_avast_ which is located at c:\WINDOWS\Temp

It looks like the two temp documents are empty folders, so I should be able to remove those. The avastSS is a 41 KB file and the Type is Screen Saver (?).

Create new restore point and whack those files.

    Avast

Gone baby Gone LOL and now I have successfully re-installed both Malwarebytes and Avast. I'm getting ready to create another new restore point and then work on my windows updates. Keep your fingers crossed for me. :) I'll be back to update you once I've finished.

    Almost Done

Well I have all my updates done...I think. I uninstalled my old Secunia because it would not initialize. Went and got the newest Secunia via the link you gave me. Installed twice now. It does not open a user interface. All I get is a white screen that pops open then it shuts down. It shows its running in my sys tray but I can open up it. Any suggestions on what I could be doing wrong?
