AOL users on the IRC chat beware! This was my problem last night trying to get in. After many failed attempts I realized that its because I use AOL.

I had to get an approved activation key. And a registered NICK. I finally got this email this morning, even though I was trying to access the room at 9PM lastnight!

I would get rid of AOL today if my wife would let me, but "she likes it ease of use!"

Somebody said lastnight in the room that timmoore had the same problem, not being able to be seen what he was typing. I didn't see in the previous posts, but does he use AOL, was this his problem?
 
I had assumed your problem was with the java client, as many people have problems with it.

I don't remember Timmoore having that problem in particular, but he was on AOL. I believe what was said about him was that he didn't talk for a while when he first started coming in the channel. We thought you might have been having the similar "newbie" syndrome. After a while we suspected you were having problems of some type but couldn't figure out what.
 
lol.....Thats funny because I thought you guys were ignoring me!
I finally got the confirmation from AOL. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. I did downloaded mIRC after the initial Java Client failure. This was before I discovered the AOL problem.

Think I might try to get in tonight.

Yup, the channel has been created two years ago & it's still going. We're having a celebration & drinks are one Papeh ( yes, he told me so while he was asleep, I swear ;) ).

Except for the fact that I've fallen of the top 15 (currently at 17)...


BTW: anyone had any problems connecting to the IRC server lately? I've been trying to log on this last week, but get a "Connection refused" message every time...
I can get on other networks just fine, but not starchat...

I'm having major problems connecting to the channel.
I am trying to use chatzilla, bundled with mozilla 1.6, but I simply cannot connect. I've never really used IRC before.

Can anybody assist?

AND I use AOL at th moment (though I connect directly using TCP/IP. I can't stand their client software!) Could this be causing/compounding the problem?
 
I know if you go to go www.starchat.net they have something on there that pertains to AOL computers I think. Yep this link should do the trick if you are still having problems.

Hope to see you in there once I get back from my business trip.
 
Lowman, you do realize that you dont have to respond to every single thread, right? The pointless one liners are frowned upon.
 
I was there- got slapped with a trout, and it was the most exciting thing that happened. In fact it was the only thing that happened. I felt shunned:(
 
No need to feel bad, it happens to everyone, and you probably came when there wasn't anyone actually there. We are there at different times.
